Here's a picture of my other boy, Piper :)

OMG, Melissa...I just had the most incredible surge of nostalgia and I am literally crying right now. You see, Piper looks almost exactly like the first kitty I ever had. We got her when I was three and I named her from one of my favorite books of the time, Peppermint. It was about a little kitten born in a pet store that doesn't look like the other kitties. One of the other kittens in the book was named Caramel Drop and that was what I named our Piper lookalike. Why I named a grey and white kitty Caramel Drop is beyond me. A three year old's mind, I guess. Anyway, we called her Caramel for short. She lived with us until I was about 8 or 9. She was hit by a car when we moved into the country and mom thought it would be okay to let her go outside occasionally. A big reason why my kitties are not allowed to go out. So, when I saw your image...boy, did it cause a surge of emotion! Incredible! I still have the book Peppermint (mom saved all of our childhood books), but I also found it on Amazon, if you'd like to take a look. http://www.amazon.com/Peppermint-Dorothy-Grider/dp/B0007HS2Z6
ReplyDeleteI'm going to see if I can find a pic of Caramel and maybe I'll post it one Cat Thursday. Thank you so much for joining me again for Cat Thursday and for evoking such strong memories for me. Piper is so beautiful!
@ Michelle - Awww...That book looks adorable. I hope that it was mostly good memories that my picture of Piper brought back! He is a cutie pie and a relatively new addition to my family--his daddy (my boyfriend) and I and my baby Milo moved in together about 9 months ago. I'd love to see a picture of Caramel...hope that you find one to post soon:)
ReplyDeleteBTW, I agree with you completely about keeping cats indoors...as cruel as it may seem...I think that the alternative is even worse. I lost a cat that way when I was a child as well :(
Piper is so cute!!
ReplyDeleteOh - what an elegant cat! Adorable! Thank you very much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteSo handsome and lean! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Melissa...no worries, they were good memories. =O)
