ReplyDeleteP.S. Silly me added my link to fast and didn't realize that it was my homepage *sigh* I'm adding the correct one, can you delete the first. Sorry for the mix up, and thanks. Do stop by Pagan Culture when you have a chance. Oh, and I keep my buttons at Magaly's Blog Circle.
Just added my updated link (the one directly to where I'll keep my list) and I'm gone for Maiden, but I'm sure I'll end up and book happy Crone!

ReplyDeleteI forgot to mention that I am going for Maiden but hopefully I will reach Mother. Mom! Here I come!
ReplyDeleteI bet my fiance that I could read 104 books at least in 2012, so I think I am going for Crone level. I am in the process of setting up my blog or fixing my existing one, so for now I just linked to my Goodreads account.
ReplyDeleteHii!
ReplyDeleteThis will be a new challenge!
Thank you
I am going to try for Maiden level
ReplyDeleteSo looking forward to this!
ReplyDeleteThis will be a great challenge for me. I think it should be one that I can complete without too much difficulty and it might get me interested in doing more challenges again. Thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeletePS Your blog background is beautiful!
Having joined the other 2 pagan/witchy challenges I had to join this one too :) Looking forward to a year of witchin'!

This sounds like a lot of fun. I especially like the fact that I have all year to get to a witchy book (or 2 or more lol). I definitely have a few in mind. I look forward to joining in.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting, Melissa!
Already have a couple picked out!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a blog so is it ok to give my facebook page as my URL?
ReplyDeleteAlso, can I suggest you add Graven Images (http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12520465-graven-images) to your list - i've been told its very good and I'm just about to get it.
I have participated in a read along before, but never a challenge. Open to suggestions for books as right now I have Harry Potter. I am using it for literature for homeschooling my two children, but enjoy many genres myself.
ReplyDeleteI'm really excited about participating, thanks for starting this!
ReplyDeleteIn selecting my reading challenges for this year, I found that while I could find plenty on with a general paranormal topic base but nothing specifically for witchcraft books. Thank you for hosting this!
ReplyDeleteHi, I'm so excited about participating. I'm going for the Maiden level for now. Thanks for hosting.
ReplyDeleteI'm ready to do this! I'm going to start at the initiate level as I'm so new, hopefully I won't stay there though. I'm excited~

ReplyDeleteI am so thrilled that all of you are joining! I'll be making the rounds at all of your blogs very soon!!
ReplyDeleteI was surprised when I counted the number of 'witchy' books that I already own. This challenge is apparently just what I need!
ReplyDeleteI've signed up for the Initiate level. I just found the Bewitching Mystery series, so the timing couldn't be better.
ReplyDeleteI've signed up as a Maiden :) I've already read 2 books, and it shouldn't be too hard, but just in case, I am aiming for 10! Thanks for hosting :)

Jackleen
http://jackleenslibrary.blogspot.com/
I'm with you. Witch books are fun! I'm going to try for Initiate, but I may be able to surpass it, we'll have to wait and see. I have LOTS of other challenges I'm attempting this year too.
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa,
ReplyDeleteFrom your list, I have already read four books:
Practical Magic - Alice Hoffman
Garden Spells - Sarah Addison Allen
A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) - Deborah Harkness
Dead Witch Walking (The Hollows #1) - Kim Harrison
I guess I am already on initiate level then, huh? "A Discovery of Witches" will be on my Top Ten book list of 2011 -- what a great read! (I will post that list on my blog soon.) I will definitely bookmark your challenge and join it when I get the chance -- great idea!
Happy reading,
Birgit
Hi Melissa!
ReplyDeleteJust finished Discovery of Witches and pre-ordered Born Wicked! Having fun with your clever challenge.
I loved A Discovery of Witches! And I really want to read Born Wicked too!
DeleteLovely Challenge. I have never tried Witchy books. Hope I will love this.
ReplyDeleteI didn't get chancew to join any book related challenges last year, but i feel ready to take the plunge. I'm a bit rusty when it comes to reading so i'm going to sign up for the Maiden level. hoping to exceed it though.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you all. I look forward to any recommmendations. Several in your list that i fancy adding to my own Melissa. will put one together for myself shortly.
BB xx
I've just stumbled across your beautiful blog and will begin at the Maiden level, yet hoping to go further. I've posted your button on my sidebar as well.
ReplyDeleteHave already read some of the non-fiction titles in your list. Buckland's Complete Guide to Witchcraft, Magic in Theory and Practice, and Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner.
Did I see somewhere that we can choose titles not appearing on the suggestion list? Sorry, I've been so very ill and a bit "out of it" lately.
Of course you can read any full length book that includes a witch as a main character or major witchcraft elements counts. They may be fiction or non-fiction. That list is just suggestions to get people started! Welcome!
DeleteJust updating to include my post regarding this challenge along with my initial "List". I've just ordered The New England Witch Chronicles and can't wait for it to arrive! Here is my intro post: http://paganbydesign.blogspot.com/2012/02/2012-magical-year-of-focus-and-change.html

All righty! I'm starting late, but I'll begin with some short ones and catch up quick. I'm an old witch so, I am going Old School. I dug out the first three volumes of Andre Norton's Witch World series (1963-1965) and Omega, Stewart Farrar's ecological disaster novel from 1980. I'm going to declare for "Mother." I may be able to upgrade to "Crone," but I don't think I'll bet on it just yet. Let the challenge begin!

These are some of my favorite types of books! I'm very excited to get started on this challenge!
ReplyDeleteJust to let you know, I'm not sure if this is only happening for me... but the button isn't linking. I'm getting a "This picture has been deleted"photo instead of the pretty Witches and Witchcraft challenge photo.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up! Not sure what happened but I think it's all fixed now!
DeleteFunny I run into this challenge tonight as I'm in a slump and was just looking for something new to read. I LOVE WITCHES! this will be perfect and you even help me by listing books. Your Awesome!

ReplyDeleteHI, What a great idea for a challenge. I will join too. I do recommend a few book, they are part of Kelly Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld series. You can see her book list at Goodreads. SOme that have a witch as main character are Industrial Magic, Dime Store Magic, Haunted, Waking the Witch,Counterfeit Magic, and more. Check out her goodreads for the order, (the ones inbetween witch ones, still have the witches in them, just not as the main character, the whole series is in the same world, and the characters show up in other books, lol, its fun) I will get a post made, and put the button up asap. I also am a new follower. here is my blog http://concisebookreviewsbymichelle.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteJoining late, but looking forward to it! =]
ReplyDeleteNever too late!
DeleteHi Melissa! Too bad we aren't both on Word Press to subscribe to each other's posts; so much in common (feline family, vegetarian). But so glad to discover your special reading event albeit halfway through the year. :) I already signed-up to show I'm committing.
ReplyDeleteI haven't yet written a specific blog on this; a demanding read-a-thon just ended and I've noticed your instruction now. The URL you have is for my blog in general. What would you like me to do?
I think Melissa has since added my blog directly about my participation with y'all! I am always so happy to have new subscribers and meet great people. Right here: http://cmriedel.wordpress.com/2012/06/30/witch-novel-challenge/
ReplyDeleteI wish I could have done this one with you.
ReplyDeleteOh! You should add MRS. B'S GUIDE TO HOUSEHOLD WITCHERY to your non-fiction list, http://bit.ly/NNj0Lz. It comes out October 1st!
ReplyDeleteHey Melissa! I'm so excited about this. I just posted a blog about it with a long list of witchy books I've read and loved. I'm offering a free copy of my YA novel AUDREY'S GUIDE TO WITCHCRAFT for any participants. Sorry I stumbled on it so late, but better late than never, right?
ReplyDeleteJust discovered this so joining very late, but I've really been into witchy stuff this year, especially due to the Hollows series by Kim Harrison. Also have some paranormals and such to read. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm entering very late in the game but I'm a dedicated witchy reader so look forward to ideas and shared witchiness. I like having my name and my blog name in the link so I'm afraid I entered twice and you can delete the one before Kyna's Realm. Now I need to make my blog interesting!
ReplyDeleteJust added a mystery book called Witch Way to Murder. Brings me up to 19. What a fun challenge!
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon and Merry Meet! I have just discovered your blog as well as being a "new" pagan. I was wondering if you are planning on doing a 2013 reading list or if I should just start reading the listed books above. Thank you for all the information you have available on your blog, I am in full on I can't read enough or get my hands on enough information mode right now. All my best to you, blessings, Renee
ReplyDeleteI'm entering super late, but looking forward to reading as many witchy books as I can throughout the next two months!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great challenge, Melissa. I think I'm done with my witchy books for the year at 19. Look forward to participating again in 2013.
ReplyDelete19! That's awesome!
DeleteJust stumbled upon this website. I love reading fiction books about witches! I am now following you via GFC and definitely going through the listed books here.
ReplyDeleteOf all your books, what would be your top recommended funny, fun to read fiction witch novel? Would so love to hear from you!
New follower via GFC. :)
