Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Home Front

Summary from Goodreads:
All marriages have a breaking point. All families have wounds. All wars have a cost. . . .
Like many couples, Michael and Jolene Zarkades have to face the pressures of everyday life---children, careers, bills, chores---even as their twelve-year marriage is falling apart. Then an unexpected deployment sends Jolene deep into harm’s way and leaves defense attorney Michael at home, unaccustomed to being a single parent to their two girls. As a mother, it agonizes Jolene to leave her family, but as a solider she has always understood the true meaning of duty. In her letters home, she paints a rose-colored version of her life on the front lines, shielding her family from the truth. But war will change Jolene in ways that none of them could have foreseen. When tragedy strikes, Michael must face his darkest fear and fight a battle of his own---for everything that matters to his family.
At once a profoundly honest look at modern marriage and a dramatic exploration of the toll war takes on an ordinary American family, Home Front is a story of love, loss, heroism, honor, and ultimately, hope.
Two Teasers Today:
"There were things to be said, he knew, words that had been withheld too long, hoarded in the dark and sopiled. Once he gave them voice, said what he really felt, there would be no going back.” pg 30
“Tami hung up the phone slowly and turned to face Jolene. “We’re being deployed.” pg 64
What's your teaser today?

This one sounds a really good read, Melissa. Thanks for the teasers, really intriguing!
ReplyDeleteI'm dying to read this one! Great teaser! :)
ReplyDeleteHere's my teaser for this week.

Books, Biscuits & Tea
O that second one says so much in such a small sentence. Great teasers.
ReplyDeleteThese are great teasers! I'll have to add this one to my pile :)
ReplyDeleteMy TT is here: http://booklovingmommy.blogspot.com/2012/01/teaser-tuesday-january-31-2012.html
You chose a couple of great teasers. Thanks, too, for including a synopsis of the book. I'm definitely adding it to my TBR list.
ReplyDeleteHere's my teaser: Sandy's Teaser
You read a lot more chick lit than I do. Those slice of life, coming of age stories never seem to really grab me for some reason. If I wanted to deal with life I’d, well, deal with my life! I’m much more of a fantasy gal.
ReplyDeleteI've been seeing this author EVERYWHERE! It's not normally my type of read really, but I am an eclectic reader so I'm up to try about anything. I'll be curious to see your review and hear your thoughts. Hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI love Kristin Hannah's books! I want to read this one!
ReplyDeleteThis story I am sure hits home with many military families. I loved the trials and struggles that were unfortunately true to life! I did need a few tissues but loved every word. This story starts to show the ugly side of war, and the effect it has on the families.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to start reading this one! It's sitting on my office coffee table, patiently waiting. Great teasers!
ReplyDeleteHere's MY TUESDAY POST
It's an amazing book...I'll be posting my review later today!
DeleteNot really my thing (although I did enjoy 'Firefly Lane'), but my wife is looking forward to reading this one. Nice teaser and I'll check out the review later.
