Added to the Bookshelf - 11/25/12

Sharing the week's bookish news and the books & bookish goodies that I've bought, borrowed, won, or been gifted and have added to my bookshelves over the past week!

(Inspired by Mailbox Monday, IMM, Clock Rewinders and the like)

Notes From Melissa:

This has been a great week! On Monday evening I met with my book club to discuss Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn...we had a great time...even though we were undecided about what we thought of the book!

Then I hosted my family and the husband's family for Thanksgiving.  I have never cooked so much in my life...and we are still eating leftovers...but it was a great success (aside from the FIRE in the oven ;p).  There is nothing that makes me happier than being surrounded by family.

On Friday, my sister's family came over to help us with the leftovers and stayed for a family movie night! So much fun! Yesterday we finally got started on our Wedding thank you notes & we should finish them today. (Yes we are bad...but we'll make it just under the 8 week deadline. LOL)

So how was your holiday?  Any funny stories to share?  If you share yours,  I might share mine! LOL

      2. It sounds like your Thanksgiving week was a success! I'm glad you had a great week and you definitely have some great books in your haul this week. I want to read Beautiful Creatures but the used copy I bought was missing 10 pages so I'm out of luck for now. :( I hope you enjoy your books!

      6. Fire in the oven? Yep, I've done that too! I was cooking chicken and the pan had a little hole in it - the fat dripped through onto the element which then caught fire. My chicken was very crispy ;-)

I love seeing Christmas-themed books - although I don't read them often I lurve Christmas!

        Enjoy :-D

      11. Sounds like you had a great holiday! I left my leftovers with my grandmother. Didn't want to be tempted by them. Looks like you got some great books in this week too, I've been seeing The Demon Lover pop up a lot lately. Happy reading!

        1. That was actually a typo...I am listening to Beautiful Darkness now...finished Beautiful Creatures...and I enjoyed it but it didn't totally thrill me. I'm curious to see how the movie turns out.

      13. Oh I need to grab Haunted Destiny!
A fire, huh? Scary! And wow, you're brave to have everyone over! I haven't hosted a holiday and I hope I never need to. I hate cooking and I'm not one for making meat when I don't eat it myself. I guess I just feel like I don't really know how. Not how to make a ham or turkey anyway.
Lots of great books this week!

      17. What an exciting Turkey Day...thank heavens no one was hurt. We did a mexican theme and there was so much food! I asked my mom to invite three brothers and a sister in law, but she worried about the space, so didn't and my girls and I cooked for more than we needed to. Lol..lots of leftovers! what a haul you brought in this week. You will have lots of fun reading all those books!
        Happy reading!

Would love to be entered for Ashes - I saw this series last year at BEA and have been wondering about it since then, lol!

      19. Melissa, I just have to give you major kudos for how awesome and thorough this post is. It takes so, so long to put together the wrap-up posts each week (at least for me) and so I applaud you for how much work you put into this! I love it! I think Estelle will faint when she sees the fun stack of Christmas books you have to read! :)
